  Film
Internet Movie Database - Yes, just like everyone else, we think that the imdb is one of the best sources around. It can be a little slow (due to the humongous size of its database), but it has almost any piece of information you're likely to want.

Movie Bloopers - And you thought you were picky! Check out this site for all the mistakes in just about everything.

Dark Horizons - This site out of Australia is a great source for info on who is doing what and where. Garth Franklin has a network of spies worthy of Reilly himself. Also includes early scripts reviews.

Ain't It Cool - The grandaddy of them all. Harry Knowles has been driving the studios crazy for years, though of late the site has become even more geeky and sci-fi oriented than usual. The reviews etc. are contributed, so the standard isn't terribly high, but it's still a lot of fun.

Coming Soon - This is the movie trailer site. They have practically every trailer ever (some going back to the sixties!). Updated daily.

Hollywood Reporter - The venerable trade. Yes, you have to register to get full stories, but you get a good couple of paras without registering, which is usually enough.

  TV
Zap2It.com - Probably the best overall source for TV info. Not a fan site, not a trade site, but somewhere in between the two.

Gist TV - More fan oriented than Zap2It, but a great source for news.

Starseeker - An entertainment oriented search engine.

  History
History Today - Great source for history news, plus contests and articles. This is the online version of the magazine, but it doesn't include all the mag content.

The History Net - Everything historical. Loaded with content and well organized.

BBC History - This is the history site of the venerable UK TV network. Mostly UK history, but very thorough. Has a great timeline.

  Food
Cooking by Numbers - Just tell it what you have in the house, and it'll tell you what you can make. Includes illustrated skills tutorials. It's out of the UK, so measurements are metric.

The Inquisitive Cook - This one not only gives you recipes, but tells you why they work the way they do (or not).

About Food - This UK site not only has all the usual recipes, but includes plenty of information on food history as well.

Ancient Roman Dishes - Adapted recipes from Apicius, the Roman gourmet. Fascinating!

  Words
Writer's Block - Writer's Block is a dynamic Web magazine that provides thought-provoking articles on topics of interest to Canadians in the writing trade.
The Poetry Archive - What can we say? A great resource of poetry by almost everyone you can think of. Good argument settler, too!

Great Writers - A directory of sites dedicated to writers. Includes lists of Nobel and Pulitzer prize winners.

Project Gutenberg - This massive undertaking is attempting to print as many books as possible on the internet. They can't publish books still in copyright, so most works are pre-1923, but it's still a fantastic resource!

One Look Dictionary - You type in a word, it gives you definitions from a slew of dictionaries.

Wilton's Etymology Page - Lists the etymology of hundreds of words and phrases. Absolutely fascinating, though it can be slow to load.

Cosmoetica.com - A poetry page maintained by Dan Schneider. Includes some great links pages.
