Everybody's
favorite stone cold killer was once a real gangster according to court
documents uncovered by The
Smoking Gun. Tony Sirico, who plays the psychopathic Paulie Walnuts
on the hit HBO show, was once a mobbed-up thug in NYC. The transcripts
obtained by the site reveal Sirico as the kind of guy who packed a
gun, dealt speed and was dubbed a "danger to society" by
a judge.
The sentencing transcript makes great reading, particularly the part
where the prosecutor outlines other behavior that he wants taken into
consideration before Sirico is sentenced for felony gun possession.
We can't decide which is our favorite part, the bit where he follows
an unmarked police car and runs it into the median divider, or the
part where he threatens a club owner with, "I'm going to come
back here and carve my initials in your forehead. You better learn
a lesson, you better show me the respect I deserve."
The 1971 case resulted in a four year sentence for Sirico, of which
he ended up serving 20 months. Since then he's trod the straight and
narrow and parlayed his threatening manner into a lucrative acting
career playing mostly...yes, thugs.
The sentencing
transcript is a wonderful document, though. It reads like something
straight out of an episode of the show. Take a look. Who knew people
really talked like this? And this is the prosecutor and the judge! |

68 - Roman
Emperor, Nero commits suicide at the age of 31. Initially
a popular ruler, it didn't take him long to mess things up.
Killing his mother didn't do much for his rep, either.
