Robert Blake Hires Investigator

Actor Robert Blake (Baretta, In Cold Blood) has hired an investigator to help solve the murder of his wife, Bonny Bakley.

Blake and Bakley had been out to dinner at a Studio City restaurant on Saturday night. They had walked back to their car, parked a block from the restaurant, when Blake realized he had left his gun behind at the restaurant. He apparently has a licence to carry a concealed weapon and Bakley had suspected that she was being stalked and asked him to bring it. When he returned to the car he found his wife slumped over with a bullet in her head.

Blake raised the alarm, but his wide was pronounced dead at the hospital. The actor is currently hospitalized himself, suffering from high blood pressure. Police searched his home and tested Blake for residue. The tests were reportedly negative, and they have declared that he is not a suspect.

Blake and Bakley had only been married for four months following a DNA test that showed that he was the father of her child. She had initially given her daughter the last name of Brando, thinking that Christian Brando was the child's father. Apparently Blake and Bakley were not close and she lived in a seperate unit behind his Studio City home.

The investigation is continuing.
