Bette
Midler has reportedly scrapped plans to write a tell all book about
her experiences making her doomed CBS sit-com, Bette. Rumors
were flying a couple of weeks ago that the star had signed with Simon
& Schuster who were ready to pony up $1 million for the tome.
The book, to titled "Canceled," was to be written by Bette
and her longtime producing partner Bonnie Bruckheimer. Simon &
Schuster maintain that they were eager to have the book, but that
Midler decided against writing it.
Bette opened with a big splash, but ratings plummeted after
that and Midler soon joined the ranks of movie stars who failed to
make a go of series television.
Oh, by the way, Simon & Schuster is owned by Viacom, which also
owns CBS. Hmmm.... |

68 - Roman
Emperor, Nero commits suicide at the age of 31. Initially
a popular ruler, it didn't take him long to mess things up.
Killing his mother didn't do much for his rep, either.
