Court
Rules Against Survivor
|

Stacey
Stillman scored a significant victory on Monday in her suit against
the producers of CBS' Survivor. The tentative ruling by Los
Angeles Superior Court Judge Ralph Dau effectively throws out two
breach of contract suits brought against her by Survivor Entertainment
Group (SEG).
Stillman, who claims that SEG manipulated the game in order to ensure
that ex-Navy Seal Rudy Boesch remained on the island, recently received
another boost to her case when the deposition of fellow castaway Dirk
Been essentially supported her claims. The statements of other castaways
were not so favorable to Stillman.
The producers, for their part, claimed that by filing suit and speaking
out Stillman was in breach of a confidentiality agreement that she
signed prior to appearing on the show. The court appears to have disagreed,
in part because she didn't say anything until after the show had aired,
and also because as a "whistleblower" she has certain rights.
The judge declined to throw out another claim of the producers', however:
that Stillman defamed them and the show by claiming that it was rigged.

1862 - It
was on this day that the Rev. Charles Dodgson told Alice Liddell
and her sisters the story of Alice, who followed a white rabbit
down a hole and entered a magical land. Alice Liddell insisted
that he write it all down.
