Fans
of the show Xena Warrior Princess aren't very happy that the
show is over after only 6 seasons, and many have made petitions to
continue it, or to convince the producers to make some TV movies about
the leather wearing, chakram hurling Warrior Babe and her Battling
Bard sidekick Gabrielle. As if the fact that the series was bowing
out weren't enough, many fans were shocked at how the it finally ended.
But it isn't
over till it's over.
Executive
Producer, Rob Tapert and his wife Lucy Lawless (Xena) both feel
that the show has had a great run. "It seems right to be ending
now after 6 years," says Lawless, "Going out on a high and going
out in style..."
But fans aren't
ready to say goodbye to the Warrior Princess just yet.
Many of the
hundreds of websites will probably stay up as a tribute the show.
Tom's Xena Page is an example
of a very popular Xena site. "It'll stay up indefinitely." says
Tom Simpson, the owner and creator of the page. Other Xena sites
that are worth a look are The Australian Xena Information Page, Amphipolis Villiage, XenaGreece.Com, and The XenaRulz Page. Another site that has just
recently opened as a tribute to the show is Xena Warrior Princess Forever.
Having played
a large part in her fame, it seems that the Internet is where Xena
will always be. Well, besides in the hearts of its many fans. Some
people have even taken a shot at continuing Xena with fan fiction,
where the fans write Xena-Based stories and submit them to various
sites on the Internet. I know of one site that has decided to write
fan fiction as a spin-off of the show, centering around Xena's daughter
Eve, played by Adrienne Wilkinson. It's called eVe, and is worth a look.
Tapert and
his band of writers may have killed off the warrior princess, but
we know Xena will never be completely over as long as there
are loyal fans keeping her alive. For them, it was much more than
a spin-off, it was that rare item in the history of televisiona
show built around a woman who knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid
to go out and get it.
We need more
like her.
