| Well,
we’re back! After almost an entire week at the mercy of a slightly
less-than-wonderful DSL. And what do we have for your viewing
pleasure? Well, there’s an early 21st century take on young girls
and their dreams (lots of squealing) and an early 19th
century take (much more clever). Plus the sophomore episode of
a would-be prime time soap about Orange County. Ummm…that must
have been an interesting meeting. And another new ep of USA’s
hit detective show.
8:00pm
The Cheetah Girls – DIS – The popular series of books for
pre-teen girls makes it to the small screen with Raven and Lynn
Whitfield. It could be fun, but the books pretty much appeal to
their target audience and no-one else. Get ready for lots of shrillness.
Pride and Prejudice – A&E – Of course, they probably
said the same thing about Jane Austen’s Lizzie Bennett back in
the day. This show (which concludes tomorrow) is a treat. Without
doubt the best interpretation of an Austen novel, it has all of
the energy, wit and fun with none of the overly romantic treacle
that some people don’t seem to be able to live without. Oh…it
also has Colin Firth.
9:00pm
The O.C. – FOX – This new would-be soap sashays out with
its second episode tonight. Is it going to be another Melrose
Place/90210 or not? And does anyone anywhere else in the
country know where Orange County is?
10:00pm
Monk – USA – No-one ever accused Monk of being a great
mystery, the stories are fairly simple-minded, but still good
fun. Tonight in Mr. Monk Meets The Playboy we find out something
about the past of his sidekick Sharona.
