TV Tonight:
Friday, February 21st

  by Noah Ruderman

Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO)What do you do if you’re a semi-popular television personality whose network show gets canceled soon after you make controversial remarks dealing with 9/11? If you’re Bill Maher you head straight to HBO, where his new series, Real Time with Bill Maher, debuts tonight.

Elsewhere one of Jim Carrey’s biggest hits airs on UPN, Mister Sterling gets some new competition on NBC and American Psycho debuts on USA.

8:00pm
Dumb And Dumber – UPN – Almost ten years later, this Farrelly Brothers comedy starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels still remains fresh and hilarious, which may be part of the reasoning behind a prequel currently filming focusing on the pair's high-school years. Unfortunately, Carrey and Daniels will not be reprising their roles, as they are a bit old to play high-school students.
Mister Sterling – NBC – Don’t you just hate it when you’re trying to run for a senate seat against a billionaire? I mean, a millionaire is tough enough, but how can anyone compete against someone with a few billion? I guess we’ll soon find out.
American Psycho – USA – Before Reese Witherspoon became the second coming of Julia Roberts she co-starred in this 2000 grim and violent satire with Christian Bale (Reign of Fire) based on the novel by Brett Easton Ellis. She may be America’s next “sweetheart,” but here she’s immersed in a world of sex, drugs and chainsaw murdering.

11:30pm
Real Time With Bill Maher – HBO – The premiere of this “new” political talk show, which is basically a revamped version of his ABC show, except guests are now allowed to use profanity and/or take off their clothes. Let’s hope the latter doesn’t occur tonight when Bill welcomes actor Larry Miller, author Michael Eric Dyson and columnist Ann Coulter.
